What information we collect
FastSat.ca is a content site. We collect minimal information:
- Standard server logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URL, timestamp. Used for security and performance analytics. Retained for 90 days.
- Google Analytics 4: aggregated visitor statistics (pageviews, sessions, geographic region at city level, device type). Cookies set: _ga, _ga_*. You can opt out via your browser settings or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Email if you contact us: only what you voluntarily send us via email at hello@fastsat.ca. Used solely to reply to your message.
What we don’t collect
- No newsletter signups by default
- No login required to read content
- No purchase data — when you order Starlink, you transact directly with SpaceX, not us
- No payment information
- No location tracking beyond Analytics’ city-level aggregation
Cookies
We use the following cookies:
- Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*): analytics, expires after 2 years
- WordPress session cookies: only if you log in as an admin (general visitors are never logged in)
- Cache cookies: optional, set by Cache Enabler to serve faster pages
You can disable cookies in your browser. The site will continue to function (we don’t use cookies for any essential feature).
Starlink referral program
When you click our Starlink referral link, the click is tracked by SpaceX (Starlink’s parent company) via their referral cookie. We don’t see your purchase data — only an aggregate count of conversions per month, which is used to determine our referral credit.
SpaceX has its own privacy policy at starlink.com/legal/privacy-policy. We are not responsible for their data practices.
Your rights
Under Canadian PIPEDA and provincial privacy laws (Quebec Bill 25, Ontario PHIPA, BC PIPA), you have the right to:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Opt out of analytics tracking
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

Children
FastSat is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect any personal information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on the homepage for at least 30 days.
